Overview
This session explains standard precautions for infection control and prevention and the infection prevention practices recommended for the provision of LARC services.
Objectives
By the end of this unit, participants will:
- Describe standard precautions for infection control and prevention.
- Demonstrate the steps for handling and processing instruments.
- Explain how to handle, segregate, and dispose of contaminated and non-contaminated waste.
- Describe infection prevention practices recommended for the provision of LARC services.
Timing & Methodology
Total: 90 minutes (1 hour, 30 minutes)
- 45 minutes: Facilitator Presentation and Group Discussion
- 45 minutes: Skills Station Practice
Preparation
- Print, download, and gather materials
- Have a flip chart and markers ready to take notes on the standard precautions for the provision of LARC services
- Collect items for skills stations and set up two stations in different areas of the space
