Facilitator's Guide

A guide to foster a systematic, engaging, interactive, and inclusive planning process among participants during a two-day workshop.

About the Facilitator's Guide

This guide enables facilitators to foster a systematic, engaging, interactive, and inclusive planning process among participants during a two-day workshop. The workshop includes five key steps that guide participants in developing a shared work plan, creating consensus around priority activities for transitioning from MISP to comprehensive SRH services, and strengthening the health system in settings affected by crises.

The guide is broken into three phases, each of which is explained in-depth in the Facilitator's Guide.

Phase I: Pre-workshop Preparations

  • Collect the necessary data to inform the workshop
  • Identify key stakeholders
  • Solicit feedback in advance from key stakeholders unable to attend the workshop

Phase II: Participatory Planning Workshop

The workshop is broken up into five steps.

  1. Setting a common understanding
  2. Mapping needs and opportunities related to comprehensive SRH
  3. Setting planning priorities for comprehensive SRH
  4. Teamwork on agreed planning priorities for comprehensive SRH
  5. Reporting back and finding synergies

Post-workshop

  • Follow-up to fine-tune the work plans
  • Undertake necessary additional preparations and steps to move forward the prioritized activities
