This unit discusses issues that contribute to the mistreatment of women and newborns and the concept of respectful maternity care as a component of quality care.

Objectives

By the end of this unit, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss issues that contribute to the mistreatment of women and newborns.
  • Share examples of mistreatment.
  • Explain the concept of respectful maternity care as a component of quality care.

Timing & Methodology

Total: 45 minutes

  • 30 minutes: Facilitator Presentation and Group Discussion
  • 15 minutes: Video and Group Discussion
