Event Description:
Despite a large body of research demonstrating significant variability in biological sex, sexual development and bodies, common understandings of human biology and sexual development are dominated by a binary model. In this model, people are assumed to display unambiguous and congruent characteristics that are either female or male. Although changing, this binary model has guided our understanding of sexual and reproductive health and rights. Join us to find out more about Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Intersex People and hear why Intersex issues are important and necessary to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights – especially in crisis settings.
Lana Woolf: (Webinar Moderator) Lana is a founding Co-Director of Edge Effect and Chairperson of the IAWG LGBTQI+ sub-working group.
Julius Kaggwa: Julius is a prominent Ugandan activist and Executive Director of Support Initiative for People with atypical sex Development (SIPD) and has been awarded several prominent human rights awards.
Esan Regmi: Esan is the Executive Director and a founding member of Campaign for Change. He is a co-founder and current board member of Intersex Asia.
Eliana Rubashkyn: Eliana is pharmacist, chemist, harm reduction educator, refugee activist and trustee at Intersex Awareness New Zealand (ITANZ)
Morgan Carpenter : Morgan is a bioethicist and is the Co-Executive Director of Intersex Human Rights Australia. He is the creator of the intersex flag, and a founder of the Intersex Day project.
