Description
This training resource guides facilitators through the various steps necessary to facilitate a four-day face-to-face training workshop on SRH in emergencies and the MISP. The training is designed for an audience of program managers and is one of three available training modules – tailored to three different audiences – on this topic.
In addition to covering the six objectives and the other priority of the MISP, it also covers topics which are considered important for the implementation of the MISP and are also addressed in the Inter-Agency Field Manual on Reproductive Health in Crises, including:
- Adolescents;
- Funding;
- Inclusion;
- Logistics; and
- Monitoring and evaluation.
The facilitator’s manual provides a daily agenda for training and a description of the key messages to cover. All group work and discussion activities and their instructions are provided in this manual. These activities and group discussions are designed to make learning more interactive.
A scenario is introduced at the beginning of the training and should be incorporated throughout its duration. The use of a scenario will help participants visualise and practice the theory being discussed. A choice of scenarios is provided, or if you prefer, you can adapt to a scenario better suited to your context.
Pre- and post-tests are included to provide insight into the base level of understanding so that facilitators can adapt the training or identify areas that may need emphasis.
Objectives
At the close of the training, all participants should be able to:
- Explain why it is important to address SRH in emergencies.
- Define key terminology and concepts for planning for and responding to SRH needs in emergencies.
- Describe the roles all sectors or clusters must play in planning for and responding to SRH needs in emergencies.
- Outline the objectives and activities prescribed by the MISP.
- Demonstrate skills in coordinating or supporting the activities necessary for MISP planning and implementation.
- Identify the role they have in supporting preparedness for and implementing the MISP in emergencies.
